Co-ops know that a steady internet connection can support the success of entire communities — and are working hard to provide it.
Take it from Scott Chambers and the town of Muldrow, Oklahoma. They needed reliable broadband — and Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative is stepping up.
When COVID-19 hit, Scott’s entire family was forced to work from home for most of the year. This included a real estate broker and septic repair service provider, two teachers, a student athlete and a pharmaceutical student — all using the same unstable internet connection to do their part in keeping the local economy and community thriving through the pandemic.
“My neighbors can share similar stories,” Scott said. “Mary is a school teacher, Ray is a sales broker for the oil industry, Lance is restaurant business owner, Jacinta is a lender, Autumn is a logistics coordinator and several others work in careers that greatly impact our community and depend heavily on these services to perform.”
“While most of us have semi-returned to our office or school sites, our need for reliable, affordable and quality internet services at our house has not diminished,” Scott said.
Cookson Hills is working to bring that quality fiber internet to all of its 14,000+ members over the next couple years, including the Muldrow community.
Other cooperatives like Cookson Hills are going where other companies won’t — working to bring entire Oklahoma communities the reliable internet they need to thrive.
